Whilst I was waiting for my new engine, decided to tackle a problem I have had with my dash lights. Indicators and the generator light work fine, the oil pressure light came on ok when I shorted the lead from the sender to earth. However, the illuminating lights and the main beam light did not seem to be working.

Spent an age taking the steering wheel off and getting the heater leavers off to find there is voltage at the bulbs and the earth connection is good, but still insufficient to show if they are lit or not.

Anyone else had this problem, and anyone have a fix for it?

If you have power and earth and the bulb is in working condition then you may find its the tag that connect to earth as you twist the bulb holder into place.

I took the bulbs out of mine to test with a meter. I needed a few new ones, but they were very cheap at Farnell online.

I also gave the metal a rub with emery cloth before reassembly.

(Sorry the picture's not so good)
