Hi!

One of the things the bus failed it's MOT on was the green lights for the indicators not working. Tried the bulbs with some spares i have, but no lighty, and the alternator light seems to have stopped now, may have been from me reaching up through the wiring loom to take out the bulb holders. I can feel a earth wire on the indicator earth, and the single wires seem ok on the bulb holders themselves. I think the green lights have been not working for a while, the alternator light has always worked - till i tried to fix the green ones.........

It was getting a little dark, when i was faffing about, and wondered if there was a common wire loose somewhere? :?

Did a quick check on the fuses, and they all seem ok.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers!

Alistair

4 pin relay with KBL o/p to dash lights per chance?

but just a thought does your oil light come on when you turn the ignition?

if not then trace back to fuse 4 make sure the integrity of the wire is sound ....

does the alt light come on at all? say ignition switch on engine off? switch on engine running?

or you could try taking it from the 49a pin for now then get a replacement relay when your happy....

Hi!

Thanks for the reply, not too sure what you mean about the first bit, here's a pic of my box and spaghetti wiring.

Yes, oil light works when ignition on.

No alt light at all, but will look again today. As far as i can tell by feel, the earth wire is on, and the fuel gauge works......
If i put a buzzer on, at least the mot man will be happy, any idea when this gets wired to on the relay?

Thanks!

Alistair

has your indicator light ever worked?

my guess is that the set up with the indicator relay you have means that it will not work (i know that's not helpful).

you may need to go back to the correct realy set up, or do something nifty in order to get it to work (seperate relay with 2 inputs, connected to front indicators, and output to dash).

Hi!

You know what, i can't remember if they have worked to be honest, sounds silly, they may well have. The round relay you can see has 4 wires going to it.

What does the correct relay look like then, can i just unplug the round one and plug the correct one in then?

Any ideas on the alt light not working? I am sure the bulbs are ok, but if i can buy some new holders it would be better, as if you move them a little, the side light and high beam light will go off, so I'm even wondering if it just duff holders? I have a 2nd hand dash, but some of those holders don't seem much different to mine, so hard to tell.

One thing to mention, if i turn the ignition on without engine running, so you would normally get the oil and alt light on, the oil light works fine, but if i disconnect the alt light and run a wire to the other pin on the bulb holder, i don't get 12V.....Odd?
Though, when the engine is running it's about 13.8 or therabouts on the battery, so is charging ok - even though the light isn't working?

I've been through all the fuses, and continuity across the lot - even the really old ones....
I've spent ages today faffing about, and am a bit hacked off really, it can't be that hard surely?

Need to get this sorted for the MOT, unless i say sod it and fit a buzzer to the flasher relay - and which pin would that be?

Thanks fot the help so far!

Alistair
