Im trying to renew them , first set I got were about 13mm to long ,next ones are right size , but too thick .
1970/71 Cali import . Any imput most welcome. :?

thick ones are 72 onwards I think. you need the early thin ones. most online vw places should stock em

I was told that the earlier ones were the larger ones that I got first, so is the difference between early and late only the thickness . :? Cheers

Thanks for the reply , another journey to exchange them hopefully for the right ones this time . Cheers

Can you take one off before you go to match it up or are you going in the bus?
If you are taking the bus with you, when you get there, jack it up remove a wheel and check before you go back home.

Unable to get the right ones , all they had was the large thinner ones or the smaller [late] thick ones . They were using the Heritage Cat and made a phone call to there suppliers and was told that they are the only ones available. :?
Scott-Westy , I see your van is the same as mine , have you replaced yours , if so , where did you get yours from .Cheers
ps Like your taste in music . :)

in 73 the brake caliper was increased in size (bigger motors) and they were 14mm thick pads with bigger pistons 33mm

The earlier pads are a mere 10mm thick. Pistons 29mm

noticeably different

Try GSF part no: 64218A, you can get them direct from GSF Plymouth. Ive just started going through all this as I am upgrading the '68 to late discs.
