Disconnecting brake servo

Will the brakes still work with the servo disconnected,the reason I ask is I've changed to twin carbs and the vac take off is a different diameter to the servo non return valve and it seems to be leaking and making the engine run shit.just want to run the van up the road for a wash and I will get a reducer to connect the servo during the week.

Yes but they will take much more effort.

I had a Peugeot diesel that had the brake vacuum generated by a pump rather than engine manifold.
The pump failed, as apparently they are known to do, but the first I knew was coming up a slip road off the A1 at 70-ish ;)
I couldn't stop it before the busy roundabout at the end, and sailed across it, fortunately without incident, apart from cacking myself.
