my last bus was built on a budget and used as a family camper and I will be build my new bus on the same budget as I have no spare cash. But my priorities are different as I would rather slam it them have it resprayed, I like dints and bad paint, my list would go
solid bus
good running standard engine
narrowed and slammed
wheels
interior
.
.
.
big engine
.
.
garage
.
drive
.
house
.
push bikes
.
family etc

the secret is to do as much work as you can yourself, i hate paying labour, I also use ebay and forums to spot bargins. my van is run on a bdget as I have a wife and two kids, so they come first. saying that my van will be having 2k spent on it over the winteron a new engine and some welding, where the 2k is coming from is anyones guess lol

Mine was bought and is still kept on a tight budget by doing as much as possible myself, £10K I wish !!
My daughter's starting Uni later this month

I bought my bus last year for £350 with a subaru engine in (seized) i know i was mega lucky and in the right place right time! 8)
So far it now stands me £800 on the road and painted and a r/r bed fitted :)

Got lots off my local club and bought/ sold a few bits too

Money is tight as our boy starting private school so lots of sacrifices being made.
The bus is a way of having a few cheap looks out and the odd "adventure" with the boy :D

blimey, daughters goin to uni and boys goin to private school
Had to double take i wasnt on the splitty forum

Mind you we dont have any spongers(sorry children) so we got a bit of schooling fees left for unneccesary wheels and lowering oh and a few stellas too

john the horse ,still at work and not at action :?

 john if you saw the schools round here you'd pay to educate your sprogs
Besides its just the cost of a couple of holidays a year and a few less nights on the beer while he is at junior school, the scary fees kick in later :(

I have no kids and a good job thats how i do it :D I work hard as **** so that i can play loads and have the toys. I run a very large UK company but still have another totally different job which helps pay for toys. I think its all about balance. My bus cost under £5000 over 10 years ago and i shudder to think how much i have spent on it over the years  well over £25000 i think.

To me the bus is my main enjoyment for me and the misses, we go away in it all the time and consider it a large part of our life, so spending the odd grand here and there is fine. As i said no kids for me, as the misses and i personally dont think there needs to be any more kids in the world at the moment, so we are doing our bit. ;) and the money saved goes on holidays and the bus :) oh and loads of tattoos

It all depends on what you want to get out of owning a bus really. I do as much work on it as I can, but wont bust a gut over spending weekend after weekend ******* about with it, id rather be cruising down to the beach or somewhere, and that is only possible by working like a bitch to get the cashola in. 8)

to date, i've spent £300 on my bus. that's including purchase price and parts. it's a complete basket case, needs every single panel replacing, but it's mine, and it's all i can afford... should have the chassis finished by the end of the month :D

I bought mine in '93 (I was 18) and could only afford the basic repairs. Now (I'm 36), after a couple good jobs and getting up the ladder, a couple of inheritances and a large credit card bill that I tart about when the 0% offer runs out, have i been able to restore it. I've now run out of money and have to somehow finish off the interior!! :)

I bought mine at the age of 18, and it's lasted me being careful with spending through four years of uni. Despite how it looks, it is structurally and mechanically better now than ever before in my ownership...

Now I'm about to start a proper job, I'll be able to start giving back to my bus. :)

I bought my first bus for £1k when bays were cheap as chips ... when it sold a few years ago it paid for a US Westy import, since then it's been a gradual process doing stuff myself a bit at a time. I get paid ok, and the wife works too, so with some jobs on the side the bills get paid. There's been no £10k plus cash budget here ;)

I wouldn't want to be starting from scratch now though! :)
