Batley, it's God awful!
Bought some door seals from c & c and there crap, can't shut the doors and tried pissing about trimming them down still no joy - whats the point of selling them if they don' do the job? Waste of money - BOLLOCKS - I suppose i shall have to look round and see if there are decent door rubbers somewhere?

I've just brought full seal kit from Custom and commercial.

They are all vewib seals which I'm told from this forum are the best you can buy. I haven't fitted them yet though so can't vouch for them

Hi George, they are black admittedly they were the cheaper ones rather than the dearer ones but why sell them if you can't shut the doors? It doesn't say on the site they are cheap £20.00 each - is that cheap? - but they are crap so once you have found this out you will have to buy the ones that cost more! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :suicide: I'm not in the habit of trowing £40.00 down the toilet!

it is irritating when cheap **** is sold which is clearly not fit for purpose

I work on the basis buy cheap pay dear in the long run

I've just fitted a c & c grey tail gate seal, fitted great. Cost about 40 quid so guessing the more expensive ones they do.

I bought expensive ones and can shut the cab doors, but can't get the doors flush with the frame. They may bed down over time apparently.

I've tried adjusting the door striker plates but to no avail. They just looked too big as I was fitting them any way!

So the short answer is probably Yes!

Same here, paid for the best but the cab doors ain't flush, maybe proud by 5mm, tailgate and slider are awesome fit, will see how they go over time i guess, fit to the doors nice and look nice though :)

Yep, new seals make the doors proud of the body. They will bed in, but it does take time. Fitted my slider seal last year, its now o.k.

Having had cheap Brazilian repro seals from JK I sent them back for the same reason, terrible fit. Did a bit of research due to being similarly frustrated and off a few recommendations went with the Vewib seals and have to say that I don't regret it. Great fit, has the little corner piece which the cheaper seals don't seem to have and fitted perfectly in seconds. £45 per seal delivered from Schofields. It would seem you get what you pay for when it comes to door seals.

Don't get angry, send them back. Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, the goods must match their description and be fit for their purpose. If they are not, then your entitled to a full refund, not a credit note.

Don't settle for any nonsense or excuses. The goods must be also be of satisfactory quality (from the perspective of the consumer, not the seller) . C & C are not cheap and make a good mark up on the stuff they sell, so make sure they fulfil their contractual obligations.

Just google the SGA 1979, it's really very straightforward.

Went through the same process, hard as concrete black rubbers, in the bin, 2x price grey rubbers fit ok. Should really make a class action against vendors selling stuff that is not fit for purpose. The amount of crap I have junked in the past two years is a joke.

Why are the good repro ones grey when og ones are black?

Anyone do black ones that are good? I only need to replace one and using a grey one will look odd.

Got all my seals from VW heritage, no complaints at all other than from the wife due to the huge cost!! I did buy every single seal from indicators to windows etc!
Rather than ordering online i called them and spoke to a very nice helpful young lady who pointed me in the right direction and gave a bit extra discount on a large order! :D

Although my door seals are still bedding in after a year i have no complaints over the seals and you can tell the quality is good!

We use to have a saying when working onsite over tools, Buy cheap Buy twice! Seems to be on VW parts aswell!

If you have trimmed these then they will not take them back, worse case leave them in until you can afford better ones this way at least you haven't completely wasted your money on them.

Morning Dazza! What colour are the heritage ones?

Morning HeeBee.

All a shade of black if this makes sense

The softer ones have a chalky coating on them that makes them softer and these are the light ones but i would noy call these grey, others are black nut you cant tell the difference when doors are shut.

All window seals are black.

This is the rear hatch which is the chalky type

c n c ones here on my bus and yes mine do the same. they have never 'bed' in that was 2 yrs ago. pile of crap. they do 'seal' so apprently thats ok and i couldnt return them :(

Just thought I'd add a remark, if after a reasonable amount of time, if they do not bedin , then clearly they are not right. The seals should fit in all respects, this includes not standing out proud to an extreme extent, especially after a length of time to allow "bedding -in".

Remember if you feel they are not "satisfactory" then you are entitled to a full cash refund. The Sale of Goods Act does not define "satisfactory" but this is defined by the consumer, not the seller.

I have dealt with C & C and they are quite slick in attempting to deter you from returning goods. Know your rights and don't be manipulated.

that too is what i found. they kept telling me use the seals and they will bed in. how long for they couldnt say. then the first born arrived and life got in the way. By that time id been fobbed off for months so figured it was well past time to send them back. live and learn.
