Hi,

Just got my UK registration through after a long wait of about 2 months now!

really want to take the van out this weekend for a two hour round drive to the in laws through the country side!

but i've been warned against it as its now winter and there will be gritt on the roads!

What do you recon should i risk it?

Thanks

Dave

Spend the weekend rustproofing the van with POR15 and or waxoyl type products. Wax all the paint etc if it is in good nick. Don't forget all the cavities such as the front bit behind the bumper - I drilled holes in my newly replaced one and injected cavity spray in there. Little rubber bungs to seal the holes.

Spend all week driving and grinning like a loon cos it won't be rusting quite as fast ;)

I wish they put some grit on the roads on my way to work. Yesterday morning was a nightmare.

Your van wont fall apaer from one journey on salty roads. If you plan to use and enjoy it often, waxoyl and other stuff is a must.

Go for it, Dave! :D

When you get back, give the underside and inside the wheel arches a quick wash off with the hose, and then allow the water to drain off a while before you put the van away if you normally keep it inside. :D

Hi,

yer if the weather is good i'll defo go for it i think!

might be a bit nippy if we set of early! I turned on the heaters last time i was out for a sneaky run and it just blew cold petrol fumeso n me!

Cheers once again
