Hi every body,

i have a 72 cross over, whith type 1 power.

while driving day light hours (lights off) all is ok,

with lights off brake lights are working fine

at night (lights on) all ok for a short while say couple of miles then the orange brake circuit warning light comes on, then when i stop engine still running turn lights off and push the brake pedal all the side lights (front, rear & no. plate) all illuminate as if ive turned the lights on again.
all the side lights illuminate evry time i brake!! pretty cool hey?!

with lights on brake lights are hardly distinguishable from side lights.

please can some one help. we're off to cornwall on the 30th of this month!!

sounds like a dodgy earth to me, check all earth connections are good, if any corrosion clean up area, ( to shiny metal ) rust and paint are not good conductors of electricity, apply a thin smear of petroleum jelly then reconnect.

As mentioned poor/earth fault is a good guess,
Also can be caused by someone putting single contact bulb into brake lights which should be dual contact,or internal short in bulb/s........

thanks for the replies, hoping to investigate it tonite, the rear light assemblies and bulbs are all pretty new but can well imagine that there's corrosion on the contacts already, is there a diagram any where which will show all the earthing points on a 72 era bay?
