Engine bay door Hinge Thread confusion

We bought our bus in bits. It was stripped down completely. We came to fit our engine bay door/lid the other day and the new countersunk screws we got from...erm...(can't remember and cannot find originals) appear to be M6. That is okay for the hinge plate attaching to the lid/door but the location holes on the body are bigger. We tried M8 and they seem too big. They seem to be M7 but cannot find these anywhere to buy.

Do you think they have been drilled out and tapped by a previous owner :msn4: or is this standard? Any help is appreciated

Parts book lists them as AM6 x12.

Thanks for checking. I thought that might be the case but ours are definitely not M6 threaded holes. M6 screws are too small.
