Hi, newbie question really, I have recently acquired my first bus its a 68 westy and the engine seems to run ok at the moment however I am having trouble identifying it as the engine number is GEX81407 which if read the engine code threads and webpages indicates as below

CODE SIZE BORE STROKE CC Model Year BHP Notes
GE 2000 94 71 1971 T2 1978 to 79 70 USA Market Vanagon Heads.?

I am no expert on this but I thought these where the later fuel injected with hydraulic lifters fitted type engine? It is an import so I am wondering if someone has had the engine rebuilt at some time and for some unknown reason has decided to stamp it up with its own unique number as it has had the X added into the engine number.

I have attached a couple of pics for info, I understand from a couple of friends that they think it is a good old 1600 twinport but if anyone else has a view or an easy to identify it would be appreciated
