I'm missing a pin in the engine lid hinge. What's the part I need and where can I get one from as I can't seem to find the exact bit - surely it's just a bit of cylindrical metal? I don't want to get a replacement hinge as had it all painted etc.
Cheers

ok thanks but I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by drilling it out? Do you mean with a very thin and long drillbit? Any particular rotation (clockwise/ counterclockwise?)
Thanks

Yes drill it out. Think most drill bits are clockwise. You should be able to get a suitable sized roll pin from a motor shop.

If the pin is not there, ie not fitted rather than broken a simple fix is to put a large split pin in as a temporary measure, in order to drill it out if the pin has broken you will need to take the hinge off the van and the engine lid as otherwise you cant get the drill close enough to drill it squarely and thats not always that easy (screws into the bodywork usually seize up)

As you said the pin is missing ,there is nothing to drill. So if your not sure what your doing take both hinges to the machine shop and ask them to replace the pin with some rod then touch it up with paint at home good luck .

Halfords sell roll pins of various sizes, funny i just happened to notice them yesterday :D

thanks all. I think the pin is missing - that's what I was told anyway - my van has been restored recently so it shouldn't be too hard getting the lid/ hinges off and I need to take it back soon to get some touch up on some chips that happened when the van was re-assembled after painting.
Any ideas what size pin I need (might just had it over and see if they will sort it)?
Thanks
