Is there anyway I can repair the engine lid hinge on my '68 bus, the pin has snapped inside and I dont want to have to buy a new one as the paint possibly wont match the O.G. paint.

Cheers for any good advice.

John

I drilled the pins out in mine and fitted roll pins, slap some grease round them and tap them in, job done ;) .

Sounds like a plan how long has it lasted so far for you?

Been on now for 5 months no probs and should be good for years to come, just make sure they are lubricated now and then.

I can supply high quality stainless roll pins 5mm X 50mm that fit precisely and don't rust. £2.00 a pair. pm me if you would like some.

Tell me more about these stainless pins you speak of.

do you have to reem out the hinges or just slep them in there?

Sounds like i could do with some of them mate.....

They are standard 50mm X 5mm marine grade stainless pins. Your original pins were the same size. I just drill out the old ones and tap these in. Problem is I'm abroad right now for just over a week so pm me after 16th and I'll send you some. I've sent out 4 pairs already - at this rate I'll be running out of stock!

Brian, You have a PM.

 I've blown my cover :msn4: . I'll have to do less lurking and more posting!

Pete - yours are in post.

gulf blue 62 - Sam - I need a pm with your postal address please!

Brian

BTW - you guys and SSVC have now cleaned me out of these pins! Hopefully I'll be getting some more next week. Now £2.35 posted for a pair. Anyone else for some?
Brian

Brian, can I also get a pair of the stainess pins to re-do my hinges

Did you want a cheque or if you PM me your bank details I'll just transfer it accross

Cheers, Matt

Hi there Brian, have you got any of these pins left cos i could do with a couple for the engine hatch. Let me know bank details and i can move money over and let you know my address,
Thanks, Peter

Waiting for some more to arrive Peter. You lot have cleaned me out completely
Should be here end of next week. I'll post up when they arrive.
Cheers
Brian

The pin replacement is the best plan, but I replaced my entire hinge. Swapmeets usually throw up plenty of good used hinges and often in good enough og paint to match up nicely.

I know I'm a bit late to jump on this bandwagon but one of ours has gone again today. Are you still doing these or do you know where we can get some? Cheers Lisa
