Strange question....

After my accident,,, I have been offer a engine lid that has had 3 pint glass holes cut into it. I like the look of it (different).

My van has a 5 bar remote oil cooler and never runs over 90.

Question,,,, would fitting the "holed" engine lid really have a great deal of effect on the cooling of the engine???

thanks

Yep, the hot air will escape the engine bay. A lot of beetle race cars have them.

Post a pic !!

it's down with the garage now, but could get one later in the week.

but down both side of the number plate area. the PO cut 3 holes. top and bottom ones are the size of a pint glass, the middle ones around the size of 50p

Like I said looks cool, but don't want to cook my engine

So holes are ok ???? K@rlos

Yep, I might stand the number plate off the lid on my bus and do the same, hoping to race next year so need all the cooling I can get

Might be ok on a race car, but surely a van which is used in everyday traffic will get hotter. The whole point of vw making loads of little seals and bits of tinware is to keep the engine bay cooler than the engine. If you drill holes in the lid, you'll draw hot air from the exhaust into the engine rather than the cool air from the vents. :)
