Hi fellow dubbers

I have recently completely striped and rebuilt my 72 engine. Everything that needed replacing was replaced along with parts I wanted to look pretty. There was no penny pinching with parts. How ever I am no mechanic and it was my first ever attempt. To my surprise the engine runs fine sounds good and with no oil leaks. This is until I put it in reverse.... Unless I give it full throttle the engine dies as soon as I begin to lift the clutch. I am assuming this is going to be a problem with the clutch (new by the way). Any advice on what I need to do and will I have to remove the engine again.

I'm pretty sure I have no reversing light
Ah, neither do I just recall reading this: http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/strange-reverse-cutting-out-issues.3706/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I wonder if parts of the reverse light system is still there - like the switch on the gearbox and the it's connection to the coil. What wire colours have you got on which terminal?

Check your coil low tension connections.

There should be only one wire going down to the points in the dissy.

All the other wires should be together on the power feed side of the coil.

Hi guys thanks for all the replies found out that pretty much all of the plastic connectors and gromits from the linkage were shot. I have replaced them and the gears are now all fine. new shifter plate too.

However please have a look at my new feed for my next problem......

if I didn't love her I would send her to the scrappy.
