Hello Mate. Great bus and nice photos, makes me wish I was on your side of the world again! :D

Nice solid bus there mate, spotted your kombi club sticker, take it your a member ,close friend of mine is Roy who runs the club, also owner of the bus stop ,not sure if you know him ,but if you do say hello from skeggy Dave ,ps im also a member of kombi club and spent much time on tour shores buddy, lovely country, lovely people ,keep up the good work and keep postin progress mate !!!!!!! :D :D

Gets my vote 8) (just try doing your photos ontop of each other - got hand ache due to moving the mouse sideways..... ;) )

Thanx guys yeah i'm a kombi club regular Its a great forum with a lot of events each year I don't know Roy but I know of him his done a lot for the kombi scene down here, we live in different states maybe we might come across each other one day. Yeah sorry about the pics all over the place the more I try to fix them the worse they get they should be all in line from now on in my next posts.
Some might be interested in some details. Its a 9 seater bus but i'm only running the rear seat so I have room for bikes and gear I dont have the middle front seat. Its ex army so it has some added features tow bar welded and strengthened rear bar, oil cooler, lots of random holes in the interior that once had things bolted to and some on the out side that held brackets for army plates it also had a front roo bar and it used to be army green rather than hippy green. They also galvinised the bodies so not much rust only a few things here and there. Its running a 1600 tp thats all stock I had to repair a head and a barrel/piston after dropping a valve guide that did a little damage but its all good now. I got it lowered just an adjustable beam all the way down but the ride is not so good the roads around here are horific so I plan on getting some drop spindles for the front. Very few people get them as low as u guys do over here most people stop at any kind of tubbing or chopping. Id love to get it as slammed as possible one day. I plan on some twin carbs to for a bit more zoom. Any way thanx for watching more pics and info to follow Cheers Ev

If the roads are bad dropped spindles won't help! You'll be lower and still retain the stock suspension travel so you'll need to play around with limiting travel using different shocks. Air seems to work or coilovers but the empi/bugpack ones aren't worth having in my opinion!
I love your bus tho, they always look better in the sunshine 8)

I thought that the spindles would alowe me to adjust the beam back a little to gain back some more travel at the moment I have about an inch of travel left on the shocks before they bottom out. The other thought was to modify the mounts so the shocks have more travel I really dont want to have to raise it up a level. Anyway its been that way now for over a year so I can live with it. Im having a good look at build threads for a few ideas Cheers

Yeah the spindles will give you more travel on the beam with the adjusters and it seems people have quite good results from havingargus setup. I've just got spindles with a stock beam and I love the stance but with a passenger the beam hits the floor and the tyres hit the arches(185 60 14) and that's with the recommended coilovers on the stiffest setting. I'm sure my torsion springs are prob a little weak as well but it's a pain. And the ride is horrible with the coilovers(really springy and under damped). Also I'm not sure the shock mounts were really designed to take the weight of the front of the bus ;)
King and link seems the best way for a low ride but pricey and you've still got to run under rated low profile tyres.
Or there's the red 9 wishbone setup, when you factor in the brakes as well this is about the same or cheaper than fitting kinky link.
Let's face it, if it wasn't for looks the best setup is as Vw designed it :msn4:
Depends what your priorities are I guess and what sort of trips you do but I'm swaying back to standard (cos i'm getting old and boring  ) anyway I've still got a bug to slam so I get it out of system that way  )
