Hmm they love slander in cycling but then again I never believed the lance rumours

The same rumour came up straight away when Ryder Hesjedal fell off in the Vuelta

Cus the back wheel kept spinning when he fell over, catapulting the bike into one of the motor cyclists

Is it April the 1st?????

I've not watched the end of that first video as after the first couple of minutes I had a few doubts about it being plausible to fit an "engine" in a professional racing bike.

I did watch the second one though and again I am sceptical that is the case. I am making some assumptions. Why would you be using the "engine" on a down hill section, surely you would save the engine for up hills and possibly the flats, this is making the assumption that they have not only design a really powerful electric motor that fits in the down pipe that they haven't designed a small light weight battery pack that can last a whole day.

Also wouldn't the bike be considerably heavier that normal?

On my desktop after this one had finished there is a clip of someone showing how this is possible.

Looks very plausable to me. Unless the guy proving it also has one with a motor in it

First one does look very suspicious though. Maybe it's all in the editing?

There's a load of stuff on this in the Cycling News Clinic Forum, which is a mentalists haven ;)

The general thought is that whilst it's feasible the power gains would be not enough to warrant the risk etc. UCI do scan bikes for hidden motors and have never found anything.

The recent Vuelta examples been pretty much explained by physics. Fabian may not have played by the rules but I don't reckon a motorised bike featured ;)

This was debated at the time, it's not new, but people love a good conspiracy theory (I'm not knocking anyone here by the way, up as Clem says, the are some mental forums elsewhere)

If it was true on Paris roubaix, he certainly didn't have it with him during the vuelta :D

On a related but slightly different topic, if you're on YouTube, search for cancellara descending in the tour. Awesome bike control and balls of steel - dropping your shoulder to miss the rock on the apex of a blind corner at getting on for 100 km/h ...
