No, I'm not after some drunken anecdote.

My son will be sleeping in the pop top bunk when we eventually get away in it. He moves around like crazy in bed, is likely to fall out so I'm looking to build some kind of safety net.

Just wondered if anyone has had similar problems (solutions?)

My Daughter will be in the cab bunk by the way (she feels the cold far more)! :?

yeah I would leave them at home, so much easier!

why dont you go in the bunk, so the boy can sleep in the bed!! lol

My friend's son fell out once in his Dormobile, never happened again. Lay a couple pillows out over the sink and see what happens, luckily kids are made out of rubber.

Hi!

You'd best try it out yourself - my GF went up there and promptly fell through as the canvas ripped. Guess 40 year old canvas aint that great?! Also make sure you have a pole to ensure the pop top isn't kicked down on his head.......

Well i think i found the solution for my 2 girls 3 & 11 who also have to sleep in the two bunks in our Dormobile. When we bought it a coulple of months ago the bunks we're in a state so I wrapped king size sheets round the poles and procceded to stitch the sheets on to the old bunk canvas, a very crude method I know but it works cause the bunks now have so much more strenght to them.

As for the falling out of the bunks my next home made treasure was I got the girls sleeping bags, unstitched the zip all the way round, I then sewed the zip on the from the top to the bottom leaving the very bottom of the bag unstitched and un zipped ( are you still following me??) anyway when my 3 yr old sleeps in it I wrap the bag round the poles of the bunk and then do it up from the top to the bottom so she cant wriggle the zip open and if she was to fall the only place she's going is into the sleeping bag.

it sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't, saves you loads of money if you cant afford to replace the canvas and stops the kids from falling out.

Cheers for that Miche,
You're right, it does sound complicated but well worth the effort.
Thanks

Try and get a continental roof bed. There full width, but difficult to find. You can make your own relatively easily. There is someone selling parts on the samba or I have a few drawings I have done if your would like me to PM them to you.

Hi Cali bay,
I'd be grateful if you'd send them to me. Cheers
