Well it seems like it has rained non stop for the last 4 days !
Living in York we have seen some terrible floods but I think this has to be the worst I have seen so close to our home, we pretty much stayed up most of the night waiting for the worst but thankfully it hasn't come as far as our house. Looking on the news the surrounding area has been hit really hard. I hope no one on here has been affected by them.
I know you guys like a pic or 2 so heading out to take some. :)

Oh mate,, sympathies for all those affected. Thanks for the pictures. It`s not until someone shows you something like that, that you appreciate what can happen. Just a little south of us last year on the levels, now it`s north of us, Gloucester copped it a couple of years ago, and so on and so on. I live in a low area that used to flood before we got here thirty five years ago but hasn`t since we been here, with drains etc . But I realise that a certain amount of rain will just overcome any of our drainage systems. Because we`re low down I guess, is why I struggled to get the van in and out of the garage for the last couple of days, it`s only now that I`m putting two and two together.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,, Good luck to all :)

Awful for the residents but your first picture sums up a lot of building in this country now , new homes built on a flood plain. They are doing it everywhere.

I'm with new hippy, huge fields near me flood every year now they are building 2000 houses on them, madness.
Going to buy a dirt bike and a canoe!!.

My house is the one with the blue shed in the garden
Managed to get bus out of garage and to safety as flood waters were coming down the road

Hey Pieman,

Glad you got your bus to safety and hope that there isn't too much damage to the house - lots of irreplaceable stuff in our houses not just our garages

I'm from Wigan and am hearing of several parts going under there too.

Stay safe guys

As Above, Please stay safe though, It`s not the sort of problem you have to deal with regularly so all sorts of things could happen as the floods disappear so keep your eyes peeled, and good luck bud.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Thinking of you northern types ;) ;)

Thankfully the river Foss near to us has started to drop but headed into the town centre today to see if we could lend a hand and it's just carnage there. The shops that usually survive are under, not good I'm afraid . We heard pepople shouting from their bedroom windows asking to get help. The emergency services are doing a fantastic job but it just seems like it's a waiting game.

Pieman, your pic is shocking, really feel for you and everyone in a similar situation.

Paul.

This was our neighbors house a year or so back - and although you can't see it , there is someone still in the Saburu - we had to smash a window and drag him out. All the electrics had failed so he couldn't open doors or windows and had been stuck for 7 hours in the dark. He thought he was going to drown as the water levels rose...

I don't feel so sorry for the VW Toureg floating along the road, owner mistook the concept of "4 wheel drive car" and "boat" and paid the price

...and they are planning to build 1000's of houses on the flooded fields opposite...

Really feel sorry those up North - must be hell, hopefully the govmt will sort out some drainage now this "once in 200 years phenomenon" has happen a couple of times in the last 5 years !
