Hi guys looking to lay flooring down in the next week or 2. Going for some madmatz. Wanted to know how thick wood you've all laid down first? Also do you fit the bed, buddy seat, wardrobe etc first then cut the flooring out to fit around it or just lay the floor then bolt the above to it?

Cheers

I,m doing same job and have used 12mm exterior ply bolted through a foam type underlay and the bus floor.
I don,t have any furniture as mines a microbus. Using lino just in case it ever has to come up, glued tiles might
be a problem

Hi matt,
i personally wouldnt put any wood thicker than 6 millimeters, i am a floor layer and i use 6 mill ply all the time because it doesnt follow sub floor (if its uneven) you could cut some strips and put them in the grooves first and then overlay with main sheets if you want to be really fussy!.........and also its not so thick that you have a issue finishing at the door edge, trims etc,..........also take all the interior out, you will get a much nicer finish than trying to cut round units, especially if you havent done this before, added bonus is that it will help keep your flooring in place,(im not familiar with madmatz stuff dont know if its glued down or not, if so ignore my last comment)..........ive just put some karndean oak effect tiles in mine looks bloody lovely if i dont say so my self,

good luck,.... hope this helps........................kev

Dont know what madmatz are but I replaced the original westy floor in mine a few months ago, think I used 8mm ply then put laminate flooring on top (5 mm thick), Originally it was 8mm ply, then 4 mm ply then lino.

mad mats vinyl tiles... i'd use 6mm wpb ply keeps the step area small .Frankie

If you remove the furniture to lay the floor (its a more pleasing and exact look) then remember that you will either need to cut the sub floor so that the furniture returns to the original level slotting into the new flooring or alter the furniture to account for the difference in height.

12mm do you need a set of steps to get in the back

the madmatz stuff is quite nice speak to them about it they've done there own and plenty of others at their unit....

I've used the madmatz 9" vinyl tiles and their underlay, good product. They recommend from memory 9mm plywood, so underlay, 9mm ply then tiles. All up about 14/15mm. Madmatz supplied an edge trim which covers this thickness and it all looks cool. I managed to get a sheet of plywood from one of our supliers (am in the building trade) 1500mm wide so it is all one piece, otherwise over time the join can start showing through the vinyl and eventually crack due to different movement. Needed to template the tricky bits but wasn't too hard.

Has everyone else had to use 2 pieces to lay the floor??
