Need to get some ply flooring but can't seem to find a full sheet to fit in one go - is that normal? Most suppliers seem to have 8x4 sheets, but my measuremenst show it as wider than 4'

Would it be ok to lay it in 2 sheets? if so which way/where would you have the join?

Thanks

I get my ply in 10 x 5 from russels..

I used two sheets as had the same issue of size at my local hardware place - first layer is 9mm, the join is from side to side if that makes sense- I then put another layer of 5.5mm ply on top and glued it together and is nice and solid

9mm is what Madmatz recommend. Then you're adding a further 5.5mm? Jeez, thats a lot of wood!

I replace the original ply that was in my van last month and the original was 15mm thick altogether, one sheet of 9mm and one of 6mm, Ive done mine in one sheet but have just routed out the difference and it has fitted in snug. I made it out of three seperate bits from 1 sheet of 8x4, where I just did overlaps and screwed it in.

I'm sure loads of people fo it different ways, I was jsut trying to keep the cost down as at my local wood yard they wanted 60 quid a sheet for ply which was bigger than 8x4 :?

lol - let me check those dimensions! its in my build thread so will confirm.....

My westy floor was also 9mm and 6mm,I used 10x5 sheets you can do 2 vans with it as the longest bit is just over 4ft,so 5x5 would do but they only sell 8x4 or 10x5 special order.I do have the offcuts left, enough to do a complete westy offers considered!!!!!!!!!

We tried to source from b&q, focus etc but they were too small, found a small independent place who ordered in, only took a day to arrive and he cut it down so I could get it home. All for a fraction of the cost of b&q.

I used 6mm ply if I remember correctly.

Hi there,
Just wondering as I'm at this point of putting new ply in my bay, have you screwed/bolted the ply down? Or is it just a snug fit so it doesn't move around?
I only ask as I have full belly pans fitted and I suppose through fear I don't fancy screwing it down without knowing what's underneath the cargo floor lol
Cheers :)

It does not need screwing down and does not move because the furniture is fixed on top of it.
