There's been a few stolen in my part London now. They only way they could take mine would be on the back of a truck. might have to put the dog in it at night though she would lick them to death

think I'm going to get a tracker! about £700 one off payment for life. I've seen one from a company in Liverpool that can still work even if the vehicle is in a container (don't ask where - it was a while ago!).

Yep, tracker AND wheel clamp (not a steering wheel lock, a proper road-wheel clamp) - basically everything you can!!

I am thinking of shaving the barrels on my locks so they just spin when turned by a key / screwdriver - even a new set of working locks are easy to hammer through with a flat-head :cry:

I did the same on my old Wedge and it seemed to work okay. Difference is this time I will do the driver's door too and fit a central locking kit or something to the rest.. :?

I'm not gonna leave mine in Bethnal green anymore then :lol:

Been loads of vans stolen in the last 2months alone, birdy on thelatebay is setting up a deal with a company at the min,for trackers supplied & fitted with a one off payment for life. The more bay owners interested the better the cost will be, the cost for one is £730 but this will come down once we know how many owners want to do it. Anyone interested please let me know. cheers, nick. sori id added the yarly subscription on aswell doh.

i break busses as part of my job but would never buy anything without proof of ownership. That said for some scumbags its well worth nicking yer bay for parts...just look at ebay :!: I want to clarify that i do not break stolen busses or condone it but i`m absolutely certain its happening somewhere in the country. Theres far too much money in our scene not to attract the attention of unsavoury types with no morals and no scruples...sad state of affairs but true

:shock: really worried about this ,have read a lot of similar stories recently i am going to invest in a parking post for the drive ,i have also got a raid snap off kit for my steering wheel,fooking thieving scum :x

I like the idea of getting the bus electrified. So if someone try's to break in they get a good shock, Im sure i've seen this on a film before

talking to the local aircooled garage yesterday turns out that there have been more thefts of campers in south london. he knows of 6 in the last month, apparently they are being lowloaded off streets.

you can buy a tracker off ebay for £160, all you need is a PAYG sim card and it will (when moved started etc) send a signal to your mobile fone and activate a gps signal upload it either to your phone or to a web page. The gps tracker also work zonally so you can set up a perimeter of exclusion.

i'll look into it as it was a while ago since i checked them out and see if i can find a link.

edit:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=vehicle+tracker&_sacat=See-All-Categories" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

some of them are alot cheaper than i thought.

I was thinking of buying something similar to this.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Vehicle-GPS-GSM-Tracker-Car-Van-Truck-Fleet-Boat_W0QQitemZ230429939986QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET?hash=item35a6b1d912#ht_3914wt_1167" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

these type also work inside a container or wherever a gsm/gprs phone will work as it can triangulate the signal to locate the van with coordinates and send them to your mobile. not bad for 67 quid and would be good fun testing it. 8)

i think if you can find one that has no minimum monthly top up charge (like you have to top up a minimum £10 a month eg.) then you would be flying as hopefully it would hardly be used.

i think O2 do one with no monthly minimum top up. looks like asda do the cheapest calls and texts ill see if it has no monthly min top up.

checked through ASDAs Ts and Cs and cant see anything about a minimum monthly top up. if the sim is inactive for more than three months it loses any credit on it. So one call/text every 90 days is enough to keep it live, 4p per text isnt bad at all.

I've enquired with the guy a few Qs and asked if hed do a group buy, what ever happens I'm after 2 of these or a similar product........

I'd love to have a tracker in each of my buses, but someone else (cops) would have to chase it down. I'd kill the MoFo that had it, zero will power.

I fit trackers for a living for fleet management purposes. I'm trying to get my company to produce a stand alone tracker for people like us guys that just want to see where our vehicles are etc.....

Those e-bay trackers do seem cheap as chips though and nice and easy to fit.
