hello

could someone please tell me where the front badge should sit? ie from windscreen reveal. mine had a wheel on the front, which has now gone so dont have a clue.

also, how does the badge attach? mine has 4 metal lugs, i can only assume grommets are required.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi mate i may be wrong but i thinkit uses the same holes as spare wheel carrier , You will need rubber grommets to go in holes , available from Heritage , custom & commercial etc , Hope this helps ;)

If it's a dormobile then the holes should be in the right place but the inserts fitted aren't correct. You can make the badge fit with a bit of gntle fettling of the badge studs although the proper badge grommets don't fit if I remember correctly.

 if someone could give me a measurement it would be really helpful as the guy who is restoring it has welded the hole up!!!!

Hiya curly,

The top of the VW roundel is just about 1 inch from the bottom of the air intake vent and centered on the front panel.

The emblem itself is held in place by press-in grommets. The holes for these grommets are much smaller than those for an aftermarket front spare tire mount. Many folks over here in the States in your position do not drill/use holes for the grommets but attach the emblem with trimtape.

Good call - I always use 3M trim tape to fix badges! No rusty holes, put it where you like, not so much damage when the thieving scrotes take the badge. I also use plastic front badges and spray them in L90D. Even less damage when..........................

cheers for the help fellas

i think i will use the tape and not drill the front panel, bit worried though in case the tape marks the paint?

Grazy is correct, My bus came from california with a wheel on the front and yes the badge fits in the same holes. Don't just trust the gromments though, i put abit of super glue in mine

Would you mind posting up some pictures of the mount and the holes?

Every front tire mount I have seen requires larger holes from a self tapping screw. Never seen one that slips into the pre-drilled holes for a VW emblem. But I sure would like to see that!
