What are those futbus hubs kits made of ? Just seen an older csp hub being alloy wasn't a pretty sight :?

Big brother is watching :?

Apologies, just had another look and you are right, not sure how they can offer it at that price as £950 is what everyone else charges

As if by magic their price goes up..............

Unreal!! I had an email from a guy a csp yesterday, he said if I can let him know how many kits we need and what years of bus and what type of kit he will do us a good deal.

Have you a picture of items to be removed, I wouldn't want to take the wrong bits out being a bit of a novice.

No, I didn't take a photo, hands covered in brake fluid......

I'm a bit backward with computer tech, so only a text description. On the MC you will see the feed pipes come out to the front brakes, you need to tackle the 17mm? nuts that connect these to the MC, then disconnect them from the smaller 10mm? nut, and there you have the pieces you need to 'break'. Break is the only real word for it, this 17mm piece has an elaborate ball bearing and spring encapsulated, and you want to make it free flow. Pair of pliers makes simple work of it, strip it down to a simple free flow piece. Clean and reassemble.

For me it seemed like a good time to replace my steel pipes and fit a servo. Used a Vwjim servo mounted under the back floor. Lovely brakes now

Not as far as I'm aware, what your doing is making the front feed work the same as on the later disk models. You don't touch the feed for the rears.

I did add a late bay 'pressure' regulator for the rear though. What this does is make it less likely that the rears will lock under heavy breaking. The reason they are more likely to lock is that disks require greater pedal effort when compared to drums. Most cars with a mix if disk and drum will have something similar is what I understand.......

The late bay one seems to be activated, not by a pressure differential, but by how much the angle of the vehicle has changed (nosedive)

Do you need to fit a/the rear brake pressure regulator? I only ask as I have read others have taken these out. But I believe they are there to stop the back wheels locking up and bus from snake-ing when braking hard.

Kinda been answered by Bluesnailsman.

Anyone found any deals else's where? I was going to ask coolair for a group buy deal but as they've sky rocketed their price I won't bother.

Ive got a front pad that seems a little out of shape and needs replacing soon as I can't adjust it properly without it squealing like a pig, so I'll need to look at doing this conversion sooner rather than later.

If anyone that's interested in a group buy could leave their van year and what conversion they want (alloys, standard etc) below then I can get onto csp and get a ball park figure.

Brett.

Guys

Heritage have to pay wages, rent, bills, infrastructure and so on. They have to be there all the time so they can offer services when we need them and offer us a discount. They have to make some money!

I completely understand , I'm just trying to save a few bob (which will probably be spent at heritage on something else!) on what is a big lump of cash to splash out. It's probably better to deal with heritage anyway considering csp are in Germany I assume?

I considered buying my Freeway Flyer gearbox straight from the USA & saving a few quid, I then looked at the hassle of doing that & the realisation that is something went wrong or it was damaged in transit, the onus was on me to return it to the point of purchase.

Hence I bought from Heritage.

I've not done this but my mate Wally just did, here arena couple of pics taken with this thread in mind

Nice one ;) I,ve been thinking of getting rid of the front drums and converting to disks with later vw bay gear and an adapter plate back to wide 5. Is there going to be any problems with the et / backspace on steel wheels due to the calipers ? Is the standard et 20 only some fit et 35`s on the front which look smart. I was thinking of doing the same.

This is what I did, 73> spindles/disks/calipers, really happy with how they perform but did have to go to 15" split wheels to clear the calipers.

The later disks are cheaper ;) What is the et on your 15" wheels ?

I think the offset on standard 15's is ET40. Did have to 'clearance' the calipers very slightly too....

Why has this been moved to 'technical'? Fair enough it now contains some technical info but the idea in this thread was to gauge interest in a possible group buy for front disc conversions, shall I start another thread in group buy?

Yes, I moved it and it had taken a definate technical turn.

If there is an agreed group buy sorted with a supplier, please post up in the Trade forum. Cheers.

There is very little margin for us buying from CSP

The best we can do is the 5% which comes in at £937.43

Sorry I cant do more for you gents.

Just looked and you guys have dropped the price considerably
