Tried to remove one of my front drums today to start a brake overhaul, only to discover the the previous owner had rounded the allen headed bolt that clamps the bearing spindle nuts tight.

Not only can i not get the drum off, it also means I can't adjust the free play in the wheel bearing.

Access is limited as the head is partially recessed into the body of the nut itself. I can't weld anything to the end of it and I really don't want to damage the nut itself as it seems these are hard to come by. Tried to wind the nut off the spindle with the bolt in situ but it won't budge. :x

Any ideas for removing a chewed up allen headed bolt?

I usually hammer in a slightly larger Allen key 1/4 drive bit then remove. Use a cheap 1/4 drive set for this

As above, or use a torq headed tool if you can get one (like used on cv joint bolts) as it will bite in easier
