Hi everyone
Looking at buying the fuel cut off solenoid and new fuel hose from here
http://m.vwaircooledworks.co.uk/Web-Shop.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Has anyone bought and fitted it? If so is it recommended and where does it wire up to?
Many thanks in advance

Shaun

Bought my solenoid from http://lpg-tech.co.uk/product.php?id_product=20" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This one is in stock and appears to be the same part.
http://www.lpgshop.co.uk/petrol-shut-off-valve/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Fitted under the fuel tank, with a piece of stainless steel mounted to one of the bolts that hold the fuel tank straps in place.
See the last post on my thread.

Then bought fuel hose from
http://hoseworld.com/acatalog/Biofuel-Hose.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Someone else might have better photos of mounting methods.

Hi

I fitted the air-cooled works solenoid and "fit and forget " fuel lines, i ran to a hidden switch shhh under dash/seat/in engine bay / wherever you like , but you have to flick it every time you drive it ! , it was a piece of mind thing for me , both security wise ,there run outa fuel by the end of the street! if they steal it ( i don't have a garage) , and a cut off in case of fire ,
Its been great , a couple of times I've forgot to flick the switch so have "broken down" run out of fuel till i remember to flick switch ! doh ! but works perfectly and flawlessly , was slightly concerned that it runs "warm" to the the touch , but after speaking to them this is normal, but would suggest you have on a switch or don't leave your ignition on !
If you haven't had your tank out and cleaned it , i would suggest a standard fuel filter pre the solenoid/filter . i fitted mine here
which worked for me but not per instructions . Kit comes complete with everything including fitting instructions , i emailed them on a Sunday with a query and got a response same day so no complaints .
Is it better than any other kit ? I don't know , it works, its piece of mind and the service from them was great .
Happy Days

Sounds like a good idea with the hidden switch, I assume that is instead of wiring from ignition. Is it normally fed from coil?

HI
You can run from any Ignition live ( not permanent live ) but you should fuse it can't remember off hand but think its was 1 amp maybe 0.5 , it does say in the instructions .
If i get a chance ill have a look tomorrow at fuse rating , think there is a link on there website that gives the instructions or drop [email protected] an email , he's very friendly and helpful .

I looked a a few solenoids and settled on the Durite one as it ran cool. Some of the others I found excessively warm after a few minutes being energised. I know the fuel will cool it but I felt is was not best practise to rely on fuel to cool the solenoid.

Mine takes it's feed from their automatic fire extinguisher so if that activates it also cuts the fuel off, but a seperate switch sounds good for security.

Mainly for fire safety. I run mine in series with my inertial cutoff switch and electric fuel pump. If I get a bump then both cut the fuel. Would also put in series with a fire suppression kit.

What's the benefit of this? in case of fire? theft?...
I fitted one to my bus for 2 reasons first one Obvously so I can cut the fuel in case of fire, and the second,I have a tracker fitted to my camper I can cut the fuel by sending a text to the tracker devise which in turn will cut the fuel stopping the camper if it's stolen
