With the props in postion if I remove the facia bricks outside then the large blocks inside the garage what props the roof up whilst I'm getting ready to raise the lintel??

Step1: screw scaffold plank or similar to ceiling behind lintel and support with acro props each end

Step2: You are ready to remove door and blocks

Step3: Break out concrete blocks above and remove lintel.

Step4: Cement concrete blocks back in on each end 1 high ( ie to raise lintel tight under timber wall plate)

Step5: Re fit lintel tight to plate using slate packers if needed and refit upvc cladding on outside of lintel to tidy.

Step6: Re fit doors to suit and enjoy

Hope this helps a 8)

if you look closely chippi the lintel wont end up tight to the plate,
will be 75ish lower, moor wor k taking sofit off .the lintel will support the sofit
which is under the upvc cladding :!:

Nice one both and cheers robins for talking it through I'll get some props and get to it maybe even this w/e. Will chuck some pics up on ere for others to see, hopefully the house will still be standing :|

have you thought about roller doors? much cheaper than wood and dont need a side frame. i replaced the up and overs with rollers and got an extra 3-4 height and three inches each side extra width, rollers only cost me £300 fitted and wodden doors were nearly twice that.

That sounds good can you give me soem contacts for a door... Hopefully one would fit my door and also tuck up into the roof space above the door etc.

im not on the mainland unfortunately but ill try to take some pics to show you what i had done fairly cheaply.

That'd be good I started on mine today as I think the van is due to be coming back on Weds!!

So knocked out the soliders on the front on the garage these are just decorative I understand so that was straightforward enough. Thereafter got some acro props and with the help of me Dad got thise in position and started to chip away at the cement etc. Think I'm already to take the blocks out now?

After that will have to put in the new supporting brick work and raise the lintel as high as poss. Then place a course of bricks across the top of the lintel and then the packing etc.

Any comments or tips at this stage greatly recived as will be progressign further tommorw pm...

Also will a roller door fit / work rob any headroon in the door way itself??

Looking good :!: just be confident and you will have it done no probs  check specs on the roller shutters you will loose a bit but not too much.

Cheers Chippi will crack on tommorow. Internal height of the garage is 2.34m so wondering whether a roller effrot will be any good as I'll loose around 300 - 400mm for the roller I think. Think the bus at standard height with pop top is 2.11 approx although need to confirm this as bus is away at the mo.

Will eventually lower the bus but for now just want to get it straight in so may have to get hinge doors or try making some :? or maybe works something with the exisitng door. Anyone done anything simialr?? Any pics would be good..

Cracked on this aft will the help of me dad thankfully, so with props etc in place out came the remaining soliders and the breeze blocks on top of the lintel.

Thereafter took out a few bricks holding in the lintel and then bobs your uncle a lintel set at a height level with the inner sofet. Will probably raise the lintel to th eheight of the wall plate if poss the determining height then is the outer sofit edge which is 2m 20cm so the bus should hopefully squeeze under and in to a dry place...

Next need to clear up and block the lintel back and then start looking at doors.

looks like you are making good progress there, have you thought about fitting old skool hinged doors?

Cheers, yep reckon I'll have look at side hingers in order too keep max height. Alternative would be a roller door that tucks away to the side although bet these are big money  .

Like the door that cali bay sorted so will be looking at these as an option as well as garador style side hinged.....
