Hi Issy,

I sympathise with you, the very same thing happened with my bus, when I bought it it had an MOT. I even had it nearly two years and had it MOT'd myself, and when it went in for a respray the belly pans were removed to reveal that the chassis was shot! I have had to deliberate whether to have the work carried out or to scrap the bus, but in the end decided to persevere with it. I have now had the two main chassis rails replaced, two cross members, all jacking points and outriggers, heater tube, all sills both sides, battery trays, front cab floor, new beam, inner and outer lower front panel, rear chassis rails, etc. the list goes on and on. I have to say it wasn't cheap but at least I know it will be solid enough for a good few years and it's another bus been saved from the scrap heap.
Good luck with yours, it might take a little longer than expected...

And if you want to know how much it has cost so far send me a PM!

well I've been amiss - the bus came back last month and I was too busy driving my split that I kept forgetting to take photos of the 'new' underneath!!

Much better. :D

When the missus bought her bus and I saw the state of the chassis I was a bit put off at first. It needed/needs sills, outriggers and jacking points all round. I gotta admit I was tempted to just buy some pans and cover it all up for an MOT, but I wouldn't be happy with her driving it, and wouldn't be happy selling it to someone in that condition. Needless to say the work is being done.

Glad to see you made the right decision too.

Did Caddy weld it for you?

He took the 'hump' with me for no reason and told me he wouldn't work on my bus
