I am in the middle of fitting my propex heater, but have found that my gas bottle doesn’t fit where I wanted it, under the rock and roll bed, in my westy, I was wondering where is the best place to put it?

Thanks

Mark

The Dormy's have them in the engine bay on LHS,in front of the the LH tail lamp unit (where the battery is but opposite). Originaly they had a wooden 'tray' with a bottle sized recess and a strap to hold it in place. hth

yeah, buut thats where my leisure battery is going, will they both fit ??

Thanks

Mark

In the wooden tray, there is space for two bottles so it may be possible if you fit your battery broad side to the rear?. Is it possible to fabricate a small frame for the leisure batt to go above the engine batt ?

I'm hoping to move mine from the LHS as I need to fit the leisure battery in there too. I was thinking that it would go quite nicely on the 'plinth' that the oil-bath air-filter use to sit on (Weber carb and air-filter fitted now). Just gotta make some suitable straps to hold it in place.

They normally say that gas bottles should be in a sealed container (or at least have sides alround to contain a gas leak) with a drop out hole in the bottom so that any leaks can vent away and not to put a source of ignition in the same container, i.e not a leisure battery that could spark

There was a web site, sorry i cant find it now, where some old fella had cut a door into the rear corner (it was a splitty) of his bus walled it within the engine bay so it was isolated, was very well done again not a cheap option but it looked well trick....

Saw an early panel that had a factory door opposite the slider for a gas bottle again boxed off internally, think it was a utillities van from northern europe somewhere again a nice solution.....

You could buy a torodial tank as used on lpg conversions they fit in the spare wheel well, fit a wheel cover over and your laughing speak to one of the lpg conversion companies abot cost....
