Right, to set the scene and so you all know whats been done so far: -

It's a Westy 72 cross over Cali import (left hooker)

All brakes serviced and renewed
All suspension replaced (lowered)
Recon 1.8 T4 engine

Now the gear box i presume is ..... aarrgggghh ....... jumping out of 4th. It has done it for some time but only now and again. Could never pin point why / when (i.e. under strain / accelerating etc).

This is now worse tot he point where i am not sure i'll be doing BVF.

Also i have noticed that now and again i'm getting a whirring noise when in neutral and getting gears is a problem with a whirring / crunching noise like a learner driver trying to get gears.

Can any one shed any light on this ......please

sounds like the gearbox is on its last legs. have you tied to change the fluid and checked all the bushes?

cheers for that, that's what i thought.

Why do you think i'm getting the grinding whirring noise when it's in neutral though, with or without the clutch depressed??

Will that 2.0l box in that link fit my bus / engine then???

2 litre box should fit straight into a late bay or a cross over, you will need a new starter though. higher ratio 4th but should be fine with a 1.8 lump
whirring in neutral could be the box itself or a noisy throw out bearing (thrust bearing)
