Well while I was fitting my new brakes and master cylinder, I decided to fit a new steering coupler as my MOT is due and I remembered he mentioned it last time.

Anyway, after removal and refit exactly the same way, as soon as I turned on my ignition, my bloody horn went off and won't stop.

Any ideas?

disconnect the battery before the neighbours get cheesed off
seriously sounds like you've got a cable caught

did you bend the tab on the base of the column,if so did you bend it back?
and the wire that connects to it is the earth and makes the horn go off if it touches the bodywork

had mine off last week! had probs as its been bodged inte past

I've bent it in all directions now to stop it. It's the steering column, itss not in the centre anymore for some reason :? :? :?

i'm having a bit of this problem too, after having an electric wash/wiper modification done. keep getting dirty looks from people!

Disconnected my horn as it went off when going round bends  . Havnt realy looked into it properly yet but the plastic bush that the column goes through in the floor is hanging out and needs replacing. I think my column maybe earthing out on the floor and causing my problem. Hows your bush?

It's definitely earthing out somewhere, the horn has a permanent live to it and the earth is the switch wire.

When I look up at it the steering column is not in the centre of the hole anymore???????

I did check the steering coupler against my old one before fitting it and it was identical. I've tried moving the steering column surround over but it won't go over enough. I've even tried to adjust it at the top of the column too, it's like it must be bent inside the surround.

I'll have to have a look properly when it stops raining.
