I've been using Beeglebus for the odd trip to work lately, and it's been great fun.
Drove in Tuesday morning, no problems, great run in.
Drove home in the evening, different story. Got a mile from work (in the dark) and my instrument lights pack up. Great for trying to guage your speed when you have to drive past 5 speed cameras on the way home
Then 10 minutes later I'm sitting in traffic singing (?) away to my ipod and then I think, f**k, I can smell burning.. Pull over, jump out, run round the back of the van, pop the engine lid, all fine. Then I realise the car in front of me was smoking furiously. Paranoid? me? Nah....
So, panic over, go to jump back in the van and the door handle nearly comes off in my hand.
Fix that (beginning to get a teeny bit bored now) and carry on home. Sitting at the next set of traffic lights and white van man next to me (very nicely) tells me my that a) he loves the bus and b) my offside brake light/side lights are out.
Oh for F**k's sake. Now I am seriously pi**ed off.
Then......it starts to rain. No problem, on with the wipers. All ticketyboo, enjoying the drive as despite everything seeming to fall off it actually drives like a dream. (thank God for small mercy's)
200 yards from my front door and the wipers decide to wrap themselves around each respective cab door, both sides.....
Needless to say 200 yards later Beeglebus got put straight into the garage without any tea and lots of shouting and swearing.
And I spent the rest of the evening ranting like a madwoman (at the walls mainly) about stupid f**k**g old volkswagens, or words to that effect
My mate Mark rang during the evening, so I ranted at him as well, just because I could really. He must have been on the beer because he simply said 'bring it down tomorrow with a list and leave it with me, your Crewie is ready to collect so go back home in that'. Ah ha I thought, now you're talking...  my mood was suddenly lifted....
So the following morning Beeglebus was duly dumped down the garage and I drove home in the crewie, which was bloody marvellous.
And having had two great drives in and out of work today in it, now I remember why I love driving old volkswagens   8) 8)
Until....they go wrong.
Carole
