Harsh Language, not on here

I've been a member on this site for well over 2 years and I'm impressed by the friendliness and decorum of the other forum members on here, in that we all manage to keep our posts clean and do not have to resort to swear words to get our points across.

In light of the recent troubles around the country we have all proved that there are some decent folk left in the U.K.

The site thankfully self moderates and we'd never moderate any language no matter how potty mouthed you get, sorry a little dig, some sites rule ot "bad" language, bad language in my eyes would be poor grammar, spelling etc....

I personally would only moderate foul language if it was a deliberatly offensive attack, apart from that keep enjoying the site and swear as much as you ******* like, free from persecution and overzealous moderation.....

Joking aside, posting requests for help or assistance is typically meet with accurate and professional responses. You are in no danger of stepping on anyone’s toes, nor are you likely to receive threats or forum abuse, which is all too familiar on another well known VW related forum.

gotta agree with araon. bad language is grammar, spelling and semantics which are misplaced, incorrect or simply shocking, of which there is much on this forum, mostly from me.
swearing is good use of language, as Tim Minchin says we should use all of our language to emphasise our point, sometimes 'darn' or 'blast' just dont have the impact we require.

And sometimes we have gratuitous swearing just because we like the sound or look of a word. (see Easy's post). My favorite game at home is Yorkshire swearing, admittedly i have an unfair advantage being born and bred in the shire. but try it sometime, swear in as many different regional accents as you can and see how the sounds can change the effect. Even my welsh girlfriend now only swears with a yorkshire accent.




Anyway, i digress.

Swearing doesnt offend me per se, but I try and use it in context and in moderation.

For what its worth I 'would' edit any bad swearing in thread titles. I often have to be wary of my daughter being about at home if Im looking at some VW sites, I dont think thats cool myself.

As easy and araon have said though, the self moderation on here is much appreciated!

Great on here - well done all! However over on the Samba,its my observation that although I don't see the swearing, they are a lot harsher and ruder to each other and about each others buses than even Vzi.

i think the odd swear word in text shows passion. you dont need to fill it full of them. i would prefer a well written bit of text with a few swear words in rather than a load of text speak that you get elsewhere on the web. pmsl lol i dont do any other forums really. who much time do you guys have? the Samba? id be single :shock:

I agree, thesamba is a bitch fest tbh. I've posted on there a few times and some people are such twats!!! If I got spoken to like that face to face I would actually punch them in the face :evil:
