Had a trip around Scotland recently with my new lowered setup (CE Weed eater 2 narrowed beam, TH spindles, air shocks), the bus drove well but a few times the beam hit the road. Looking underneath there seems to be a good bit of metal below the bottom tube of the beam, I'm wondering if it's safe enough to remove some, if any of the metal at the bottom like this.

Or if that's too much even take the forward facing corner off to stop the beam digging in if it does bottom out like this

Any advice would be great thanks

I have ground mine down a bit after hitting it way to many times! not taken tons of just about a cm and rounded it up and then repainted it 8)

That bit you are going to grind off is not for show but for strength, be careful. if you do grind off this piece I would recommend that you weld the edges other wise the two sides might seperate and thats the last thing you want. Your normal DIY welder is not strong enough to get a good deep weld

I think I'll take it to a few mil before the weld thanks guys!

I have to say Im still surprised that CE stick to this design, its great for standing the beam on the floor but somewhat impractical when used on the road, I'd leave a clear 10mm between the weld line and your cut but would curve it to follow the weld line as original and other beams do

Yeah the quality of the beam is great but I'm not sure about the design myself, the CE beam top shock mount isn't located as far out as other beams either meaning the shocks sit at quite an angle when lowered any meaningful amount. This has caused my air shocks I have to not work as well as they could

French Slammer all the way but I am biased :)
