No , but i'd like to, however currently only a 1641 with standard carb etc so might be a tad slow  But i'd like it as a base time before I stick the 911 engine in

I am up for it as now Raceshack have proved I have 75bhp I believe it to be my destiny (with cycle rack fitted)

no... but i dont think i stand much of a chance weighed down by a roof rack with 2 coolers, 4 petrol cans, a skateboard and a suitcase!!!!!

Good fun trying to beat your PB and all the bus racers are mad!! But its very addictive too ;)

As a comparison what time for a standard 1600 westy down the strip?

It REALLY depends on driver, type/weight of van, freshness and peroformance of stnd 1600 engines varies widly too,

But with a GOOD 1600 the following are closish guesses based on a few people that i know!

Panel - 21-23 secs
Tin Tops - 22-24 secs
Single cab - 23-25 secs
Camper - 25-27 secs

A westy is one of the heaviest around so would be on the TAIL end of these guesses!

I was guesing somewhere 23 to 27 seconds. Might have a go if no one laughs.

Mines a 68 westy, 1641 engine, standard carb & pertronix ignition. Fancy a go before i put the 911 engine in, its on old 911 (1972) 2.4l on triple zenith carbs

Have read about yours on VZI, looking very nice now,

Want to take my standard 1600cc sp Bus down the track at BugJam or Action  .
Purely because ive never done the 1/4 mile before. Rebuilt and run in so should be close to the earth shattering 47 wild ponies VW gave it

Want to rebuild it again (cam, carbs, reworked heads etc...)to see how much i can get out of a SP motor 8)
