Hi all - my name is Steve and I own a '69 Dormobile the kids called Lilly - although she goes by the name of 'nearly done!'
Still a lot to do on her - chassis , reinstate heater tubing, screw in interior, fit roof cap.
Got her so long ago - I promised my daughter I would take her to Balamory in it - she'll be taking driving lessons soon !!
Simple things elude me though - trying to keep her stock with a twist - so forgive me when I start asking the really dumb questions.
pics to follow soon :0)

Cheers Andy - that was quick - had only just figured I posted in wrong place !
:0)

It will get moved to the right place I'm sure .
Welcome, I've done it a few times
You will get the hang of it.

:D :D :D

Hi Steve, your story is familiar. My daughter was 17 when I bought my van 5 years later it's still in pieces. Nearly there though. Welcome and keep going

I love a Dormobile- The neighbours have a really rotten one (another desirable feature for me, for some damn reason) that always makes me smile.

"Stock with a twist" is really cool. I find adding on bits from Justkampers, M7 etc a bit predictable- why not make some bits for it yourself? Mine's currently sporting a front mounted ladder from a Bedford CA, a cut-down bench seat from a microbus in the front and I've just got a friend starting a "custom" single foot side step out of box section and checkerplate.
Still ******, mind you!

Ha that last comment made me laugh, any photos ?? mines yellow upto roofline -then white. Lowered on original steel 14 big dome hub caps. Wheels are maroon with white walls too. Metal dash interior and fittings are all original. Trying to get a period radio for dash - then a decent unit somewhere else. Oh got a two bow roof rack too. Only mods to interior will be a subtle extra couple of meters under dash ( oil )
Low and slow ..... She's a bit tatty but we still love her :0)

Ooh, I wouldn't be able to tolerate a tatty van... NAAAT ;-)

Roof rack- Had to make it about 2mm longer to fit the box on, which is also a barbeque with removable legs and stuff :)

Front mounted Ladder:

One day, eh.

FYI while Blaupunkt were the standard issue radios for these vans, they're damned expensive nowadays and most people don't know/care about the difference. If you search "old car radio" "classic car radio" etc on ebay you should be able to pick something up for about a tenner, and you can normally solder in an ipod connection to 'em.

Welcome. Always nice to see more Dormies on here. By far the best conversion in my opinion  Look forward to seeing pics.
