The bus speedo was well off the clock but my sat nav had an indicated 105 mph on the M6 a couple of nights ago and the bugger still had a more revs to go. I chickened out before the engine did.

I whole heartedly admit It's damn sacrelige but I do love my scooby motor.

Disclaimer

It's not big and it's not clever to do such speeds on public roads..............Don't do it kids, it's naughty.

You can consider your satnav reading pretty accurate - I won't bore you with the maths or how it works, but rest assured, it'll be more accurate (over a distance) than any stock speedo!

You are very naughty though - people get into trouble for owning up to this sort of thing in the public arena (I can't condone it either, of course).

;)

Well the speedo won't be going that far up again. I was more scared than when the missus first told me she was pregnant.

I have got 16' wheels and when my speedo reads 100kmh on the freeway, the speed check bizzo that is fitted overhead reads 91kmh. My tactic there fore is I drive as near or under the speed limit according to my innacurate but very stylish 71 tripmeter metric jobby. I do tend to get tailgated and sworn at by the knuckledragging aggro mob, but no tickets arrive in the mail.
I will have to get a gps and do a comparo there. I still seem to get plenty of kms under my belt and have always got to where I wanted and home again at those speeds.

Has anyone seen the Bugatti video from Top Gear where they used GPS on the VW test track to get the car up to 400 and somthing kmh?

Ive got an NOS speedo in mine, stock rolling radius and the speedo is 5MPH out below 50 and 10MPH over compared to the sat nav.
Even tho its NOS i still trust the sat nav as its better to be under the limit than over

that's cos your rolling radius isn't stock, but close (same as mine) ;)
When your speedo reads 60mph you're actually doing 56.7mph :p

I use the sat-nav as a speedo at night cos my dash lights don't work
