HAVE CLEANED AND CLEARED HEATER TUBES ON CARB MANIFOLD BUT STILL GETTING ICING, I REMEMBER FROM YEARS AGO ON OUR BEETLE YOU COULD FIT AN ELECTRIC HEATING BLANKET CONNECTED TO THE COIL, DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE TO GET THEM ?????

Are you still using the stock oil bath air filter? There is a warm air intake on this which should help if its hooked up.

I run a completely stock set up and get only minor carb icing just after start up goes after about 30 seconds.

THOSE ARE RUBBISH.

And please stop SHOUTING :)

As above, a stock air filter with pre-heat pipe should sort your problem. Mine actually provides too much hot air at the moment, to the point where I am down on power. Gotta sort that. Good luck sorting it :)

there was an imdu on ebay recently....

if your going this route then lag both branches too as its here where the fuel will begin to fall out of suspension...

IMDUs have had mixed reviews, had one on the bug and didnt run it without one so hard to tell if it made a difference....

Get this on my stock 1.6 tp fitted with the later type air filter, MG has the same problem when driven in the cold.
Simple answer is i know its gonna drive like a pig after about a nile, i stop for a few minutes to allow the heat from the engine to defrost the carb and bingo drives sweet after that.
Job sorted and not a penny spent.
