Hub Nut Size & Tools

I am about to service my brakes front and back and never done this before so need to buy the tools to inspect the brakes. I have a 1971 and just wondering if this a standard 36mm hub nut? I guess I will also need a breaker bar but is there anything else I will need just to take my wheels off to inspect the brakes? I assume some new split pins.

As you have 5x112 stud pattern (same as late bays) you don't need to remove the rear hubnut

The rear drum is just held on via a bolt or two, iirc. And the wheelnuts, of course.

the rear hub nut is 46mm on a bay not 36mm. i usually take all that stuff apart and paint mine with some really nice rust resistance paint and then put it all back together so i do take my hubs off. i do that on every vw i've owned over there years it makes it look nice.
