Turning key and sometimes starts :D , and sometimes doesn't :(, Please help :?: :?: What do I need to check and how do I go about it :?: :?: . Thanks Alison Stirz :D :D

If you can provide more details...

intermittant start from cold
starts cold but after a good run fails to start after a short stop
hesitant start but after a good run and warm up it starts well
when starting it labours or takes a good while to turn over or is it that it fires straight away
Can you hear the solenoid click in (you may need someone to stand towards the rear of the bus and keep their ears peeled)

I had something similar to this on mine, turned out to be the switch on the bottom of the ignition barrel had come adrift, unfortunately for me when i touched the switch it fell to peices :( but you can buy them so not all bad news :D

Just wrote all this once god knows where it went :?: :?: probabely to somewhere totally irrelivent lol  . So here I go again.... From cold van sometimes starts first time :) , then cuts out :( ....then after a little coaxing it will go...then for first mile a little testy...may cut out at traffic light etc   . After that runs aok :p . With my limited knowledge I think it's to do with the electrics and also the automatic choke :?: :?: . But it would be really helpfull if someone could give me a step by step run down of how to isolate problem and sort it :) :) . Just learning you see (all tips are well noted for future reference). Our van is for life not just for christmas lol

first check points gap 16 tho, then ign timing.next check air fillter clean, oil bath?
choke settings, when choke fully off fast idle screw should just be touching cam ,i think correct adjustment is back off till clear then turn in till just touching then two turns ,if some one has tryed adjusting normal idle with this it will afect cold idle.make shure choke moves free over tight air fillter clamp can distort carb and cause sticking, then adjust idle mixture and speed try from cold, may need to tweek

Will have a look at all of these at weekend  , just need to identify them all in manual first lol

and, if its a warm cold issue and single central carburetter check the heater pipe to the manifold is getting hot.
