Lots to do, and a shopping list me thinks.

Fit all your fishing gear in there ;) .
Hope its all trouble free from now on in and have it on the road soon.

Not bad at all, bus must be in good shape then, congrats again mate.

Thanks cool almighty ;)

Hi i-bus, not bad at all considering the time its been off the road. Think I'll just stick two new front shocks on it.

That is a great bus and a great story.

Only just found the thread, so it made me feel better as we are in the process of bringing a Westy over form the US and we opted to use Kingstown Shipping too.

In my opinion, bringing one over from the States is still viable if it is in the right condition and it is for your personal use. We got an original paint, original interior, low mileage Westy with full history and documentation for a fair bit less that you would pay here, even allowing for the additional costs.

Having said that, if you are looking to renovate and sell then I guess the figures won't stack up.

Hope the bus proves to be as good as it looks and congratulations on a great find.

Hi Wensbry, I'm very pleased with it and it was worth the wait. I knew it was pretty solid but it even suprised me when it arrived. I've pawed all over it for some kind of corrosion and there just isn't any. Yes the floorpans have surface and the worst bit is under the front screen, but its not gone through and can be easily saved.
I fitted the front shocks tonight and everything came undone with ease. Even the split shafts on the lower mounting stud came off
So, retest Saturday and down to the DVLA at Wimbledon on Monday afternoon to do battle with the paperwork. If they don't want to inspect it then I could have a reg/tax back by the end of next week. At least Adrian Flux emailed me today to say they understand my position and they won't chase me regards the insurance deadline on the chassis number.
Maybe, just maybe, although a long shot, I could be heading for Vanfest on the Saturday for the day, albait with no fuel gauge ;)
When is yours due in the UK? it is still a viable project if you intend to find a bus to keep.

Hi Streetbay

Mine should be setting off from its owners next week but has to be trailered down to Houston in Texas to get the ship. Probably going to take about eight weeks I guess.
The fuel guage had packed up on ours too but the owner has had a new sender unit fitted so it is ok now. He has also had new OEM door and poptop seals fitted for me.

Once I got my contacts sorted, the arrangements were pretty easy, I just hope the transit goes as smoothly.

It sounds like a really good bus you have there and well cared for. ;) On Samba now there is a 68 Westy which looks really nice, again the owners have cherished it and it has all the add ons, rear hatch fly screen etc. Its up for $8000ono which is about £4900 in real money, and I think worth the shipping cost.
Its also in Washington and about half an hour drive to Tacoma where mine was shipped from. So easy to get to port for shipping.

Is it going the long route to the uk or through the Panama canal? 8 weeks was how long mine took to get here.

Not sure which route mine will take. I based the 8 weeks on getting through customs at both ends etc.

I saw the one on Samba and I agree, for someone wanting to keep it it is worth doing. I think it has been resprayed though? not 100% sure. But looks nice all the same.

Yessssss! one Mot in the bag today and off to the DVLA Wednesday. Getting closer :D
Must say I took the long, real long way home from the garage after, just brilliant to be behind the wheel of a bus again.

After what has seemed an eternity having stared way back at the end of January I am now road legal and ready for the Breeze
CYY 448 G, easy enough to remember ;)
