Thanks for that Joval :) It will be good to watch its progress.

Still sorting the shipping at present. RoRo is considerably cheaper so to have her running would be a huge advantage. The vendor loves these buses and has a cracking 67 split but knows little about engines. But he does have a local friend who is a VW mechanic who does his mechanical work and knows these engines very well. He's going to get him to check and give an opinion on the engine. So I'm thinking along the lines of if its just a case of fresh fuel, battery, new plugs, points, leads etc to get it running sweet, then if he's reasonable priced then the money I save on getting it on the RoRo could pay him for the work. Would kinda give me a win win situation

Although sat for 4 years it still turns over which is positive, but who knows.

Things are begginning to take shape now after a few trials and tribulations
mainly the vndor kicking off about Paypal charges, all $162 of them

That's paypal for you. Just send him some more money, plus the fees for the fees if you like...

Hi Pete, A bit miffed that he did not realize he would incur a charge, but sorted now. I got him to refund me and paypal do it at the same conversion rate no loss loss to me, and they gave him his charges back. I split the difference more or less paid again with an xtra $100 and at a better rate. So I was no worse off, result! :D

Things are now moving along well as I have located an engine 20 miles away supplied by a VW classics firm called Avery's in Portland. Up and running in another motor and sweet as. New carb and dynamo etc 120-130 compression across the cylinders , and they'll adjust the valves and fit new seals for $650. I also have a gem of a guy off Samba.com who said he will go down and fit it for me Foc! there are some real nice people in the bus community :)

So will now save a big slice of cash as she can go RoRo :D

Yeah so far. Trouble is I have found another even better not 20 mins drive from the other!!

The guy has had it years and has been restoring it, but has never got it on the road, (run outa steam.) New brakes, bearings, proper repaint 6 years ago, headliner and interior are A1, Look like new, and numerous other things, shocks etc.

But this has no engine and the trans it out and unknown. Now had I seen this one first and had a choice, I would have gone for it despite it needing putting back togther. It really is bang on.

Be greedy to have both

Looks a stunner (not as nice as mine  ) good luck n hope it all plain sailing 8)

Hi mate, rotten as a pear yours is  (are you at Sandown) I'll be there on the Sunday. If so I'd love to see the old girl again. :)

I'll tell you this, the other bus is a real stunner, and what's so tempting is it is very cheap for what you would be getting. I don't think you will find a straighter bay bodywise. Having spoken with the guy he sounds like a real perfectionist and has not done things by half.

I have to say I am seriously thinking about this one if finances allow. :)

Wont be at Sandown unfortunately but im sure we will hook up at some point :)
Still got the CF?
Still moving to Geurnsey or decided to stay put?
Rich.

Staying put for now, but who knows?

The cf? yeah the big bus is here to stay period. Love that old girl. its given us some fantastic fun on Holidays. funny enough she was biult in South Africa by Jurgens, its an Autovilla. Think they did a few V dubs  I always chuckled when the bay was parked next to it, you could loose it in Bedford

**** that makes at least nine jurgens in the uk..they keep coming out of the woodwork...dude can i get a pic? i`d like to keep tabs on these as i have a vested intrest in jurgens autovilla and like to know my facts...has it been here long? is it already "known" or is it a newbie
By the way the deluxe lokks unspoilt and totally original and i now see why you`ve gone for it. 8)

Hi Scott, its a bedford Autovilla not a vw yeah?. If you remember I emailed you way back for some pic of yours? would be the ultimate pair would it not?

The cab and chassis were built in the uk in 1986 and shipped to Africa. Then Jurgens did their stuff. Came back here at the end of the 90's It is a very solid old girl and the cab has none of the usual bedford tin worm. All I neede to do was sling a frontera 2.3 diesel turbo in it as the old bedford 2.3 was stuffed.
email me your email address and I'll send some pics through to you. or send a message to [email protected] and I'll return them.

You still got the jurgen?

Game on :D

Engine and fitting sorted for a very reasonalbe price, and my Samba.com buddy is going to drive it back up to Tacoma for shipping. :D

Finaly getting somewhere now.

Been a while I know, but finally the bus will be moved today, under her own steam to Tacoma for shipping on the 30th. Dead excited :D

No time right now to give details but will write it up later.

Never thought I'd see this day! on her way to Tacoma docks :D
Mind you, a few hassles regards customs, but hopefully will be resolved soon. I hope. :|

I'll stick some more up when I've got time and give a bit of a low down on the day.

Well, well, well, must be the logest winded import in history!
Finaly after some real hassle with the owner, US customs and the paperwork the bus is on its way. It left Tacoma on the 23rd May and onto Yokohama. It left there on the 4th of June and will arrive at Southampton on, wait for it, on the 8th August!

Whats the saying? good things come to those........
