Evening.

So my turn right side seized today. Dismantled it and a kind of c shape flat metal thing fell out. Didn't think much of it, cleaned up the switch as gunky, and that freed it off. Happy bunny I thought.....

That flat bit of metal thing, I've worked out it's something to do with cancelling the indicator after turning, but not where it actually goes inside the indicator housing.

Does anyone know where it is supposed to sit, or even better have a diagram showing it please?

Ps, I'm assuming it's wear that causes the indicator housing to move round the steering column. Is there a way to solve this other than good old gaffa tape or a new one?

I had a similar issue with mine ..

The indicator cancelling ring screwed to the bottom of the steering wheel with the tab to the left hand side and catches the small stub that cancels the indicator arm.

My housing was loose and some previous bodge was to fit a small self tapping screw to the opposite side to the indicator stalk.

I have since re done it, but just make sure its only a small screw so it doesnt push into the bearing or through the isolating rubber.

It also needs packing out with washer behind the casing and the screw to centralise the casing or it just pulls it into the mechanism ...

Worked with mine anyway!

Let me know if you need a picture.

Place a small piece of electrical tape where the lip(the metal insert inside the opposite side of the indicator housing) tightens onto the column and try again. That stopped mine spinning, try more tape if that does not work.

Thanks guys

Yes please Hilly, a pic would be fab. It's one of the niggly things to get sorted now. Been running again after a complete engine rebuild ( imported it, got mot etc and it and the engine gave way after 3 miles from picking it up)

I thought as much with the housing spinning. It's taped already. Just thought I'd double check there wasn't a "proper" way of doing it lol

Are these of any help?

UUUUrghhh

so the thing is sited back where it should be. But the indicators are only working if I physically hold them in place to turn now.

Any ideas please?
