taking the single port out my single cab on thursday and swapping it for my twin port - sitting in my garden for the last 5 months

stripped it today checked all the cylinders and all seems AOK (fingers crossed) and picked up some twin kadrons for a little bit extra :)

hopefully have it built and in for this weekends v dubbin

have you checked everything on your engine yet????

yeah, well have done everything im capable of  . have an oil bath filter to get on tonight, then its off for a timing check, and carb set up tomorrow.

I just got a 1970 gene berg westy. she is not ticking over at all well and is backfiring something shocking when throttling down from 4th to 3rd. She has been standing for a few months, and i haven't got a clue about timing etc so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Could only get at two of spark plugs due to twin carbs, but they were quite sooty when I cleaned them. From what i have read, could be running lean, running rich or various other things. How do I adjust the tickover, or could anyone tell me what it should be, as mine has a rev counter. It idles/stalls when warmed up around 600 rpm.

have just picked the bus from the garage, and all is well! its had a tune up and is running spot on.he's set my idle at 750rpm downsouth. not sure what your problems could be, but if you do a thread listing your specific problems, im sure someone will be able to help, or maybe point you to a local vw specialist. people on here are always very helpful :D :D

Give it a good long run if you can to see if it will clear itself out,if not then start a new thread if you can it will be easier to get more help that way.
