J&M hits the nail on the head. I also own a t4, it's an ideal all round daily driver for me. I can collect the kids from school, rush off to the coast for some surf in the week (1 hour in the t4) and i can also do any electrical jobs on the side in the van.
I just couldn't even imagine driving round in anything else than a VW :? Yes a transit would do the same, but just isn't......is it?.....

Its not the working vans i dont understand its the large increase in T4s turning up at shows i dont get.

Its modern, so has no history, story to tell or anything that stands it out from the other tradesmans vans. I cant understand putting a van in the show and shine which in relative terms is a brand new van, with flash alloys and maybe a nice set of seats and a TV.

As a surf bus they are as good as any other modern van ie quick, cheapish to run and lots of room.

I knew some aspects of this thread would cause some people to react, but im not running the van down i just dont quite understand its place at a Classic VW show................its not classic, and its only related to what we drive by the 2 letters on the grill (something else thats wrong!!!!! grills)

I think the point im trying to make is, i see hundreds of these on the roads every week (along with all the other modern vans) so why would i want to go to a show and look at line ups of these things. After all theres a VW dealer down the road from me that has loads of them to go and look at if i wanted to and it wouldnt cost me a thing.

I wouldn't dream of putting my T5 in the show itself, I'd be more than happy to drive it to an event and park it in the public car park but no way would I even consider put it in Show & Shine and totally agree that its wrong at a classic VW show.

Is there a show out there for modern VW's :?:

I bought mine as I appeared to have caught the VW bug and when I looked at replacing the Galaxy I'm afraid it had to be a VW and a T5 Kombi fitted the bill perfectly (cheaper on my tax allowance as well  )
