Hey guys

Just purchased my first early bay.........slightly excited

But, a little confused about the year of it

All paper work states 67 but Mplate says "may 68"

Surely I should trust the Mplate, but can't help being slightly Curious :animal0028:

Can anybody shed any light on this matter

Cheers guys

Did you run the mplate through one of the online decoders? They always seem to be accurate, what paper work states 67?

Hey

Yep I used (http://www.vw-Mplate.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

And it says it on the "certificate of title"

Cheers

That works off the build week and year on the mplate so I would imagine your may 68 build date would be correct. All the same model year just a bit further on in it, you still get all the joy of those hard to find parts :) so the certificate of title says 67? Is it a specific date or just the year? Never seen a certificate of title so not sure how accurate they are

Post the IMG code into your signature in your profile and it'll appear at the bottom of all your posts

Hey

Its from the "state of Tennessee" certificate of title

Some proof of ownership thing

Looks a bit like a birth certificate

I dunno, maybe they just have it wrong on all the paper work

No doubt I'll get to the bottom of it one day

But for now I'll go with what the Mplate says

Fun Fun Fun

Upload it to photobucket and then u can get ur image code that way copy abd paste it into here then

For the mplate it is on the mplate website after you enter the details

There is no such thing as a 1967 Baywindow

Baywindows started manufacture in August 1967, the production years for VW's runs from the previous year August so the first baywindows are 1968 Models.

You may find vehicles manufactured in 1967 but they are all 1968 models and therefore are 68 Bays!

If you try buying parts for a 1967 Type 2 you will end up with Splitscreen parts!

Hope this helps!

Hey

That's a great help, thanks

So I guess from looking at the charts, my May 68 is a fairly early bay kombi then

Cheers
