The starter on my van has been slow over the past few weeks but eventually picks up speed to start. Tonight it has decided to play up.

All I have been getting is a clunk and then nothing. or it turns about half a turn and then stops. It has jammed a few times and a tap with a hammer freed it but still nothing. The battery is fully charged so it's not that.

Is it an easy job to replace?

I'm starting to panic now as the van is supposed to be in the Wimborne Christmas Carnival this Saturday!!!!

Help!

^^^^^get a new one and bung it on 8)

Have you try,d cleaning the connections up on the starter. And the earth lead on the gearbox, worth a try before you shell out for a new one

And replace the starter bush too, it's more than likely that if it's been gradually getting worse.

As above, I'd try and a bush first before shelling out for a new starter! It's an easy job to drop the starter on and off so probably worth swapping the bush, sticking your battery on charge and then seeing how it is after that.

First I would make sure it is you starter...

Might be timming ,try spinning the starter without the coil wire into the top of the dizzy....

Then put a jumplead straight from you battery to the bolt on your starter...and try...

Thanks Guys

Managed to get the starter off in under an hour. It was totally seized.

It must have been the original one too by the look of it. Either that or it came off the Titanic!
Have now fitted a new Bosch unit,(in 20mins)and it started first go!

Managed to get it ready for the carnival parade too!

Thanks again

Rob :D
