Knocking on me van

Hello Folks,

I have heard a knocking on the van but the wife has driven it and is not sure where it is coming from. Initially thought it was from the back but also thinks on further listening it could be the front. I am fairly good technically but any thoughts before I could get ripped off by taking to my local mechanic.

So is it a constant knocking? Does it change in speed? Is it rhythmic or random? Is it when your doing a certain speed/rpm/turning left or right/going over bumps? etc etc
