I lost the keys to my bay yesterday and need advise on what my options are. Two keys, one for the ignition and one for the doors. All of the doors are open which is a blessing I guess. Can I get a code from the lock? If so were do I find it? Were can I get a replacement key from a code?

If this isn't possible what are my other options?

what do I do with my ignition?

Any advise gratefully recieved.

Thanks
Eden

Yikes ...

Im guessing it wasnt an og key with a code number that you'd made a note of? :?

The door locks key can be matched from the code number stamped on them, via Custom and Commercials lock shop - assuming none of the locks had been retumbled. I guess if you get a new key you 'could' get the locks retumbled to fit anyway?
Regarding the ignition, it may well be best replacing the ignition unit ... but this depends if you have a steering lock thats engaged for starters, and will be a fairly involved task.

First step, seriously, is to do everything in your power to find the keys. Good luck.

Justin at C& C advised to find the code, take off the internal handle of the sliding door, the whole external handle then comes out, on the barrel casing there is a code, should start with an L or R from memory (don't think that refers to left or right). I hope this is right, can't fully remember but I did mine, took 5 mins and the code was there. They can then cut keys to code.

Good luck

As said. If you had one key for all of the locks I would hope they are original barrels. The sliding door handle is the easiest to remove - unscrew the interior handle and it will slide out. The number on the side is the key code. My local locksmith does keys from code for £6/8. The ignition is trickier as Clem has said, you can remove the barrel and replace it but they are very tricky to remove as there is a hole tucked behind the casing where I pin needs placing to remove. My local locksmith can use fibre optics to cut a key without a code.

Good luck and feel free to ask more questions if you need to.

OK so this is probably a good time to get all the locks re-jigged, I'll try and get a pic / dimensions for a hook you'll need to remove the ignition barrel it isnt difficult just need to release the spring retainer and it slides out....

personally I'd tackle the job myself and get a pair of keys cut to the ignition code whilst your doing it buy some graphite powder to lubricate the locks.....

Thanks for the advise. I have a key being cut from the code for the locks, fingers crossed on this one. I am soaking the steering wheel splines in WD40 over night in prep for removing tomorrow so that I can attempt the ignition.

I have now removed the ignition barrel which is different from the replacement barrels adverised for the yaer of van. I will try to get a replacement key made by tacking the barrel to a lock smith.

i've got my key code's saved on my mobile phone as an saved text message.
at least it gives me a head start getting a key cut if i'm camping and i lock my keys in.

can I take the code off of the ignition barrel? (just wondering as the ignition barrel is currently exposed.)
Thanks

Yep but the inner barrel needs to be removed from the grey cast carrier, the code is then easily recogniseable
