Hi!

Been trying to work out my m codes using various resources, cant decipher the whole lot, but found a few things.

Can anyone decode the lot so i know what's what?

Looks like a 3rd July 1970 build.....

M codes are

02 245 692
518 697
523907 D26 H67 507 517
27 5 7296 UW 2310 21

Some other number on a silver theft proof sticker, all stamped VW......

07/70
2302245692
Typ 213 517

I am not sure on the paint code, i seem to get Pearle white or Lotus white, but isnt Pearle White a earlier than 70 colour, and Lotus a later colour?????

Any help would be very much appreciated, as i am looking to get some mixed up rustoleum for under the arches etc......

:shock: Bloody hell! That's a big list!!

Any of that lot optional extra's, or is it standard kit for a westy? Continental tyres? The spare is a Dunlop cross ply which looks very very old indeed (and plate as a pancake)

And Washington?! That a long way from where it lived last in san Lorenzo, California!

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=Ano+Ave+San+Lorenzo,+CA,+USA&daddr=Washington,+DC,+USA&sll=51.399206,-121.113281&sspn=27.034935,54.492188&ie=UTF8&ll=37.020098,-100.107422&spn=34.205845,54.492188&z=4

I wonder where it's been during it's life? There is a couple of old El Dorado Hotel Reno keysrings i found under the seat... http://www.eldoradoreno.com

Many thanks for all that info, I'll hang on to that! I've a Friday car....oh dear........

Cheers!

Alistair

Quite similar to the M codes on my 71 Westy, most relate to the conversions for the US for safety :wink:

I only have a few M-Codes but can someone confirm their translation? I am unsure of how many figures the serial no should have and why I have translated it to be both a microbus and a Kombi?

22 169 359
I translated to 22 = Microbus,
1 = 1971,
69 359 = serial number?

474751 A41 141 191
4747 = Neptune Blue lower & upper
51 = Letherette dark beige
A41 = GB spec, miles & RH headlamps
141 = passenger heater vent
191 = outer & inner underfloor plates

17 1 7437 EN 2340 11
17 1 = Mon wk 17 - does the year start the first full week in Jan? Therefore Mon 26th April?
7437 = the unknown code
EN = exported to England
234 = Kombi, left hand sliding door & RHD
011 = 50 BHP & manual transmission

...its a 1972 model year van, with the large rear lights and low indicators at the front a nice example of the Crossover Bay :mrgreen:

Ah excellent, thanks a lot for that! Looks like I may have to change my username! :?
