Hi,

Just wondered if people have made their own sun canopy as it seems a little expensive to pay £80 > for a canopy if I own poles etc already from an awning!

Can seem to find anyone that sells the canopies separately!

Any thoughts as I don't want to carry round an awning for overnight stays :)

Take care

J

I looked into this, poles were £10, pegs and ropes couple of quid then I looked at awning material........ Stuff I liked was £15-20 a meter. 4 metres needed so I bought one.

I would say tho, making your own may not be cheaper but you'll be able to do it exactly how you'd like it.

Cheers
Nigel

check these guys out

Here you go, my wife made this with fabric bought from a local shop (to match the bus), the rubber section that attaches it to the bus came from Jeffrey at Bus OK (originally from Rolf de Kamp) and the poles came from ebay. We got Pete at Brromsgrove trimming to sew the material to the rubber strip for us as too big for a domestic sewing machine.

This was its first outing at EBI

PS it was a lot more expensive than buying one but its unique

I was camped next to a French guy a few years ago. He went to a local camping / outlet style store a got a piece of tarp. Used to peg it in the ground at one side of the van and pull it over his van roof and use poles and guide ropes the other side. Looked pretty cool and did the trip at a fraction of the cost.

puddle-jump have vintage looking canopies in two designs, they also come with side panels for a bit more protection and will supply without the poles.
